I am a mother of 2, and partner to my husband Ockie. After a fulfilling 18 years in Manitoba we have happily landed the Cowichan Valley in beautiful British Columbia, Canada. I was born and raised in South Africa and spent my childhood amusing myself with various creative pastimes like drawing, painting, modelling with clay, and ballet dancing. I trained as a nurse and started a family, all the while continuing with many hobbies and crafts, affirming that art would always be a focus in my life. |
After moving to Canada and a few years of office work I was able to put time and effort into that ever glowing ember, the desire to paint with watercolours. I began practicing some basic techniques and attended some workshops, and by studying the work of artists I admire from books and on the internet I quickly fell in love with the medium.
Check in to my Events page for my current involvement! Please get to know me better by following my Watercolour weblog, "A Brush with Life: On Living, with a Splash of Paint". |
I challenge myself to develop and cover new ground with ongoing practice, attending select workshops and participating in juried exhibitions. I learn something new with each work, challenged by the organic nature of the watercolour medium. I believe that for success, complacency is not on option.
Now I am surrounded by the beauty and tranquility of the ocean and BC forests, an endless source of joy and inspiration! |
